A driver was stunned to get a parking ticket after yellow lines were painted underneath his car. Nasser Khan had left his vehicle where there was a gap in the lines - but workmen filled it and then a traffic warden issued the ticket. The incident in Chapel Street, Salford, was captured on camera by an office worker based nearby.
Motorists had been taking advantage of the unmarked short stretch after recent roadworks.
A vehicle parked overnight had initially prevented workmen painting the line.
Mr Khan, 28, a marketing consultant, said: "I thought I was lucky to get the space but I didn't think I would get a ticket because it was a legitimate parking area.
"I couldn't believe they painted the line underneath my vehicle."
He said the machinery used to mark the line had melted the tyres of his Toyota MR2, forcing him to spend £550 on a new set.
Design engineer Geoff Blackburn watched the incident unfold from his office window.
He said: "A friend of mine caught the whole thing on his mobile phone as we thought the driver might need evidence to contest the ticket."
A Salford City Council spokesman said: "This ticket was cancelled promptly as soon as the driver made us fully aware of the circumstances in which it was issued."
