Subaru announces details of Imprezas - Subaru announces details of Impreza by Stuart Milne
Subaru has announced details of its all-new Impreza - including the hot 230bhp WRX model.
The new Impreza has moved away from the traditional saloon car style, opting for a hatchback in answer to more practical competition from the Honda Civic and Golf GTi.
Subaru will launch three models in September - the 1.5R, 2.0R and 2.0RX (pictured), with the blistering WRX model following in November.
All Imprezas come with Subaru's acclaimed four wheel drive system, and will be powered by versions of its trademark 'boxer' engine.
The range starts at £12,495 for the 1.5R, with an automatic option costing an additional £1,000. Standard equipment includes a low ratio transfer ’box for off-road use, 15-inch alloys, climate control and driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags.
Moving up a level, the 2.0R is priced at £14,995 and adds larger 16-inch alloys, Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control, windscreen wiper de-icer, xenon headlamps and heated door mirrors.
The £17,495 2.0RX adds a bodykit, larger 17-inch alloys, keyless entry and sat-nav.
Subaru's range-topping WRX continues Subaru's heritage of fast Imprezas, with a 2.5, 230bhp engine enabling the car to reach 62mph in 5.4 seconds. Top speed and prices are still to be announced for this hot model.
