Pub games to console smokers
A pub chain is installing bar-side computer games to give smokers something to do when the ban starts.
Installation of the Nintendo DS hand-held games is the idea of Geronimo commercial director Ed Turner.
His 17 pubs already have board games such as Battleships and Monopoly for punters, reports The Sun.
They have also created beer mats to put over glasses reading "gone for a smoke" to avoid staff taking drinks by mistake.
Geronimo will start with ten consoles at one pub - but hope to extend it to their other 16 pubs if successful.
Mr Turner, 40, said: "We want to give smokers something to do with their hands."
Meanwhile, the imminent smoking ban has sent sales of kegs of lager and beer for home use soaring.
Sales of the beer barrels have increased by more than 750% just days before the ban.
