Outrage at 'Chav hunting' videos

public school has become embroiled in a row after pupils posted a spoof video featuring them beating, shooting and hunting baseball cap wearing 'chavs'.

Pupils from Glenalmond College, in Perthshire, are seen dressed in full hunting gear and waxed jackets pursuing 'chavs' on horseback, fishing them out of rivers and shooting them with shotguns.

Entitled Class Wars, the hunters toast the hunt with champagne before chasing the chavs, who are wearing Burberry caps, shell suits and trainers.

SEE THE VIDEO HERE:

The footage, filmed on the grounds of the £23,000-a-year school, begins with a pair of 'aristocrats' fishing a 'chav' from a river before beating him with a stick.

Then a group are chased by a pair of huntsmen on horseback and when one 'chav' is finally caught he is prodded with a stick while a hound sniffs around.

And it finishes with a spectacular 'shoot' after 'chavs' are flushed into open ground by beaters and gunned down with double-barrelled shotguns.

The whole video is set to Clockwork Orange-style classical music.

Although the video is clearly designed to be a spoof, it has been condemned by the Scottish National Party.

Roseanna Cunningham MSP, whose constituency includes the school, said: 'I suppose this video could be billed as the revenge of Monty Python's upper class twits.

'Doubtless, it is intended as humour and irony but it comes across as brach, crass and arrogant.'

She added: 'Is that really what their parents are paying for when they send their prvilieged offspring to an exclusive school like Glenalmond?

'The school authorities should be considering what action they are going to take but as a well as looking into the actions of the pupils involved, they will take the opportunity to think very carefully about the values they are instilling in the children under their care.'

The school, which was attended by Robbie Coltrane, the Duke of Argyll and Lord Falconer, has said any action would be taken when pupils return after the summer holidays.
