New BMW M3 V8
Video, Pictures and statistics for the New BMW M3 V8
BMW has announced prices for its new M3 with the German super coupe costing a shade over £50k – £5,000 more than the current model.
The hotly-anticipated sports coupe – which hits the forecourts in September – has an on-the-road price of £50,625, compared to £51,000 for the Audi RS4.
Using a 4-litre V8 engine for the first time, the fourth generation M3 accelerates from 0-62mph in a lightning-quick 4.8 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155mph.
Despite being larger than the outgoing 3.2-litre engine, the new M3’s block weighs 15kg less – owing to lighter components.
Fuel economy also improved by eight per cent with the M3 returning a combined 22.8mpg.
The M3 will be competing against another Teutonic rocket, the stunning Audi S5 Coupe, which was unveiled at the March’s Geneva Motor Show.

BMW's latest M3 is the first to use a V8 engine, which develops 420bhp guaranteeing supercar-slaying performance.
It will reach 62mph from a standstill in less than five seconds, before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
The video also reveals some of the new design features, including vents on the front wings and bonnet, as well as a huge power bulge on the hood.
