'Beware Of Hairdressers Driving BMWs' - Insurance uncover worst drivers
If you want to avoid the worst drivers in Britain, you should steer clear of north-west England, a survey has suggested.
The motorists with the worst driving record are likely to be a male chef driving a Lexus and living in Oldham and a female hairdresser from Manchester owning a BMW, car insurance company Diamond found.
The next riskiest locations are also in north-west England - at Blackburn and Bolton.
The drivers least likely to make insurance claims include a police officer driving a Skoda living in Inverness, Scotland, and a female assistant teacher driving a Saab living in Perth, also north of the border.
Commenting on the north-west England statistics, Diamond's Sian Lewis said: "It's surprising to see such a concentration of risky drivers over a relatively small area.
"Being a chef is a high-pressure job and the adrenaline and tiredness after a long shift could have an effect on their driving ability.
"For hairdressers, previous research we've carried out showed that they are 18% more likely to have an accident than non-hairdressers, so their appearance at the top isn't a huge surprise."
