Audi takes the wraps off new RS6 super-estate
The storming new Avant estate is Audi’s most potent production car yet, sporting a 580bhp twin-turbocharged V10 engine which it shares with the Lamborghini Gallardo.
This prodigious power output allows the Ingolstadt-based car maker to propel the new Avant from 0-62mph in just 4.6 seconds – despite the estate topping the scales at a heavyweight 2,025 kg.
Keeping all that power in check is Audi’s famous quattro four-wheel drive system coupled to the ‘Dynamic Ride Control’ sports suspension found in the recent RS4. This allows the uber-estate to remain controlled and poised throughout demanding driving conditions.
Inside you’ll find a maximum of 1,660 litres of boot space and the usual Audi top-quality materials: Alcantara and leather-wrapped sports seats, carbon fibre inlays edged in aluminium and a Bose Surround Sound system. Customers can also choose from the wide range of standard A6 options.
Ex-Premiership footballer and Sunderland manager Roy Keane owned an earlier generation of RS6 which was later sold through Auto Trader.
